2022 USG Sustainability Committee (SusComm) Chair

As SusComm Chair, I led 30+ students for a year and created many events and initiatives encouraging sustainability at Princeton.

01. Eco-Festival: Fall 2022

Our low-waste event celebrated the arts, sciences, and humanities in the name of sustainability. We hosted a Campus Dining Sampling Event, Speaker Panel, Green Groups Activities, Sustainable Fashion Show, Music Performances, and a Dance workshop. Attendees brought their own mugs and utensils.

02. G.R.E.E.N.ing Lawnparties (Fall 2022)

I hosted 2 litter pickup sessions (one toward the beginning of the event and one toward the end), increased available trash cans on Prospect Street, and worked with Campus Club, the USG, and the ICC to G.R.E.E.N. Lawnparties, or make it great, respectful, environmental, equitable, and nifty. We significantly reduced the amount of litter outside compared to last year and raised awareness for sustainability.

G.R.E.E.N.ing Lawnparties (Spring 2022)

With my SusComm team, I gave away 250 reusable silicone collapsible cups so students could reuse their cup all day (and bring it into the headliner concert area). We received good feedback from students, and many brought back their cup for the Fall 2022 Lawnparties! I also helped clean up the SPIA fountain with students after the event.

03. CA Orientation Sustainability Work: Summer 2022

As the USG SusComm Chair and a CA Leader, I spoke about sustainability with CA Leaders; hosted two workshops on art, sustainability, and technology for freshmen; participated in a speaker panel; and co-led 12 freshmen at PEEC.

04. Sustainability Handbook: Summer 2022

I wrote a 44-page guide for reducing waste as an individual and a group leader. With the help of USG, the CA Sustainability Fellow, and Forbes College Staff, I shared the document with all CA Leaders and the student body.

05. Letter to the SAC For Bird Protection: Summer 2022

I wrote a letter to the SAC supporting the Birding Society's “Proposed Modifications to Princeton Design Standards Manual (DSM) Regarding Bird-Safe Windows and Buildings." Our community should protect birds and wildlife too.

06. Coffeehouse: Spring 2022

I hosted an art exhibition, poetry reading, dance performance, and activities Coffeehouse with the theme of L.O.V.E., or being lucid, open, virtuous, and equitable. Our event served as a pilot for the Eco-Festival.
